Wedding reception at the Dwór Kościuszko

There runs near Kraków a brook called Prądnik,
over which the Cracovian bishop Samuel Maciejowski, the Crown Chancellor,
had a comely house built in Italian fashion,
for plenty other noble reasons but also in order to have a place in this remote land around Kraków where he could  celebrate ordinary folk as well as the envoys of mighty kings.
For he would assume upon himself great matters for which his doors were always welcoming and open, and such affairs were more easily handled with in the outskirts rather than in town.

from the 16th century treatise “Polish Nobleman” by Łukasz Górnicki
